So far the summer hasn’t been that good to me… healthwise. Went on a paintball expedition with family/friends and nearly blew out my knee. Hobbled around for awhile. As I was healing from that injury, I guess I missed the memo about that Ninja Warrior living in my house. Result=almost broken rib(s). Right now it’s difficult to breathe which makes it difficult to sing, so the recording process will be put on hold for a bit. I do have a nearly completed song though. Wooohooo!!! Just need to lay down the vocal tracks. A much needed RELAXING vacation is in store and hopefully I’ll be able to kickstart the studio into high gear upon my return. Hopefully everyone else is having a nice, SAFE summer. Rock on!
This song was written way back when, by yours truly and a very close friend that sadly does not share the same plane of existence that we live on anymore. We wrote this, as well as many others back in the mid to late 80’s in the Hypnotic Pons band days. At that time they had this thing called the Tascam Porta One Ministudio where you could write and record songs onto a cassette tape. Remember those? Well, on the Porta One Ministudio, you could record up to 4 whopping tracks! And if you kind of knew what you were doing, you could bounce those tracks over to a single track and record even more! Sounds like some kind of crazy martian technology right!? There used to be a local music store near us where we would actually rent this crazy machine, and that’s how we spent a lot of our spare time for a few summers towards the end of high school and into college. Mostly just to amuse ourselves and friends.
This song was requested by my brother, and how he knew or even remembered this song I’ll never know. I guess I could just ask him? Seems like there was some old school tape to tape piracy going on that I wasn’t aware of. My first intent was to just break out the original song that’s on an OLD cassette tape, that’s located in a big box of tapes, and release that but unfortunately the tapes are in bad condition with some drop outs and the quality just wasn’t there. That’s when I figured to just redo it, and hopefully make it sound way better.
The song is about a tree frog. Not any particular one, so if you have a pet tree frog you could pretend it’s about him or her. There probably won’t be any other songs about frogs here, in case you were wondering, so I apologize in advance to all the Anura fans out there.

I tried to have a song finished before I left for vacation but couldn’t pull the trigger and get the finishing touches done in time. SOOOOO close. Oh well. Good thing is now that I’m back, the song is now finished and it will be up here real soon. I’ll have a couple acoustic songs to add to the Snozberry list as well. Also, I’m considering starting a little internet project with you singers out there so look forward to that as well. I’ll keep you posted. Start enjoying your summer! Maybe the rain will eventually go away?
I added a new section to the Songs page called Snozberries for all my acoustic noodlings. Why Snozberries you ask? Why? Why? Why? Because I can…and I really have no idea why. It’s the first thing that popped into my head. What you’ll find there will be acoustic songs that require very little time to record. Very few overdubs etc. I’ll post songs there as I’m recording my “real” songs. So keep checking back if you’re into this kind of thing. I put the first one up there now to start off with. Blackbird by the Beatles (of course). I’m sure you’ll recognize it. It’s one of those songs that I always play for some reason out of habit when I pick up my acoustic to practice. It’s real annoying actually and I wish I could stop! If anybody wants to hear anything there, drop me an email and I’ll see what I can do. Enjoy.
*** Does any one know how I can get rid of that “RSS not configued” thing off to the right on the side panel? If so, please let me know. I’m not sure how it got there. Thanks.
I had this whole big giant thing written up about Jonathan Coulton but I decided to scrap it due to it being……big and giant. I guess you can say that this song is my demo of a demo, written by internet superstar, Jonathan Coulton, about the joys and wonders of getting a new laptop. Of course that doesn’t last too long as we all know with laptops, and it turns into a sad song. If you’re not sure who Jonathan Coulton is, and since you’re already trapped inside the internet, then go to his website immediately! NO WAIT! First listen to my song, THEN go to his website and check him out. He has become one of my favorite artists over the past couple years, not only ’cause his songs are great, but also for the way he has created his musical empire. Google him for more info or search You Tube for some cool fan made videos and live show footage. I caught a couple shows in New York within the past year and they were awesome! www.jonathancoulton.com
I would like to thank Jim Mason at songmastering.com for putting the final master touch on all my songs that I’ve sent him so far. He does a great job and saves me a lot of time trying to do it myself. Check his site out if you need help putting the finishing touch on your songs.
I finally figured out how to change the header of the website! Pretty exciting to me at least since I’m webtarded when it comes to doing these things. Look for changes in the near future. I also have a goal that I’d like to accomplish and that is to write 100 songs which is why you see that in the top of this site now. These 4 songs don’t count since they are covers.
